From 7–8 March 2026, students from the course Food Security, Safety and Management embarked on an enriching two-day study tour to Shenzhen as part of the Greater Bay Area experiential learning programme. This tour directly supports SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 14 (Life Below Water).

Students visited Shenzhen University for a lecture and laboratory tour, explored the Bao'an Energy Ecological Park, and went behind the scenes at the Shenzhen Guangming Morning Dairy Factory to learn about food production and safety management. Through these activities, participants gained practical insights into water management educational opportunities and the importance of cooperation on water security, particularly in ensuring safe water use within food production.

The tour also highlighted the significance of maintaining ecosystems and their biodiversity, especially in protecting fresh-water ecosystems from industrial pollution. Discussions on sustainable food systems encouraged conscious water usage in the wider community and explored how technologies towards aquatic ecosystem damage prevention can support sustainable fisheries and address overfishing. By connecting food safety with environmental stewardship, this study tour empowered future educators to champion sustainable development.
