EdUHK Scholars Driving SDG 6 & 14: Water Security and Aquatic Ecosystem Conservation

Congratulations to the scholars from the Department of Science and Environmental Studies (SES) at EdUHK for being recognised in Stanford University’s Top 2% Scientists list! Their research directly advances SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 14 (Life Below Water).

In water management, their work contributes to cooperation on water security and promotes conscious water usage in the wider community. Through educational opportunities, they help local communities better understand water management.

For marine and freshwater environments, their research covers fresh-water ecosystems, sustainable fisheries, and the urgent need to address overfishing. They are actively engaged in maintaining ecosystems and their biodiversity, while developing innovative technologies towards aquatic ecosystem damage prevention. Scholars like Prof. HU Shao-shen (Marine Biology and Hydrobiology) and Prof. WONG Ming-hung (Environmental Science) provide a solid scientific foundation for protecting our aquatic environments.

Thank you to all scholars for their outstanding contributions to sustainability!
